What Else Must I Do?
Acts 8:14-25

Thesis: Christians, like Simon, must be right with God.

Introduction:
1. It’s good to know where we stand in God’s eyes.
2. Abraham was called God’s friend (Jam. 2:23). Can the same be said of us?
3. The main question that we should ask ourselves is, “What else must I do to have
eternal life?” But we need to prepare for the answer.

Discussion:
Let us consider...

I. That some asked, "What shall I do?”
A. Self-Justified Lawyer (Luke 10:25)
B. Foolish Farmer (Luke 12:17)
C. Men at Pentecost (Acts 2:37)
D. The Philippian Jailor (Acts 16:30)
E. Saul of Tarsus (Acts 22:10)

II. That one asked, "What else must I do?”
The Rich Young Ruler (Matthew 19:20)

III. The example of one who did all that he was he was to do.
A. Simon was converted from sorcery (Acts 8:9-24)
B. Simon believed and was baptized like the Samaritans (v. 13).
C. Simon’s lust for power (v. 19) caused him to be in the “gall of bitterness and the
bond of iniquity” (v. 23).
D. Simon heart was changed as he asked for prayer (v. 24).

How do we apply this lesson?
1. Obey the gospel (Acts 8:12-13).
2. Squelch our desire for power, glory or honor (Phil. 1:21).
3. Captivate every thought for Christ (2 Cor. 10:3-5).

Conclusion:
1. Every Christian should conform to Christ’s image (Rom. 8:29).
2. We do so by asking ourselves questions like, “What else must I do?”
