What Does God Want For Christmas?
Micah 6:6-8

Thesis: To show what gifts we should bring to God.

1. Christmas shopping can be cumbersome.
2. What do you suppose God would want for Christmas?

Discussion:

Let us consider…

I. The meaning of Christmas.
A. Some buy gifts to keep up with others.
B. But, the best gifts to receive require time and effort.

II. What God wants for Christmas (Mic. 6:8).
A. “Be fair to other people” (Jer. 7:3-6).
B. “Love kindness and loyalty” (Eph. 4:32).
C. “Humbly obey your God” (Lk. 18:9-17).

III. The significance of these gifts.
A. Practicing goodness pleases God (Heb. 13:15-16).
B. Gifts of righteous living are not mere rituals (Mt. 23:23-26).
C. Offering these gifts shows God our heart (cf. Mt. 6:21).

A. The heart is important (Mt. 22:37-38).
B. God wants obedience from the heart (1 Sam. 15:22).

Conclusion:

1. God wants special gifts—voluntary obedience.
2. These gifts are not burdensome if we listen and obey.
