Walking Holy in an Unholy World
Colossians 1:8-14

Thesis: To show the importance of a holy walk.

Introduction:

1. Do you find it hard to live exactly as God intended?
2. How do you handle the tough choices we are to make?

Discussion:

Let us consider…

I. THE WORLD IS AN UNHOLY PLACE.
A. Division exists between God and the world (Jn. 17:14-16; Jam. 4:4).
B. The world’s eyes, hears, & mouths are different than God; they have a different
message (1 Jn. 4:1-6).
C. The world contains ungodly passion (1 Jn. 2:15-17).

II. GOD PROVIDES WHAT IS HOLY.
A. Hannah said, “Only God is holy” (1 Sam. 2:2).
B. We should emulate God’s holiness (1 Pet. 1:15-16).
C. Looking to God helps our holiness (Is. 6:1-8).

III. WE CAN HOLY IN AN UNHOLY WORLD.
A. We should demonstrate love to others (vv. 8-9).
1. Pray for others.
2. Encourage others.
3. Forgive others.
B. We should demonstrate a desire to serve God (vv. 10-11).
C. We should demonstrate thanks in your heart (v. 12).
D. We should demonstrate an appreciation for God’s sacrifice (vv. 13-14).

Conclusion:

1. God provides an excellent definition of holiness.
2. Our life should closely match his pattern.
