Let us consider...

I. Cities of refuge were appointed to protect the innocent.
A. West Cities
1. Kedish (Galilee)
2. Shechem (Ephraim)
3. Hebron (Judah)
B. East Cities
1. Golan (Bashan)
2. Ramoth (Gilead)
3. Bezer (Moab)

II. “Homocide," "Accidental," & "Self-defense."
A. Murder is “lying in wait” to take a life (Ex. 20:13).
B. Manslaughter is the accidental or unintentional death.
C. Self-defense is the preservation of life from attackers.
D. There were strict guidelines to be followed (Ex. 21:13-14; Num. 35:6, 11-14; Deut.
4:41-43; 19:2-13).

III. The New Testament application.
A. Salvation is found in Christ (Heb. 6:18).
B. Sinners flee to Christ for refuge and is safe from the avenger (Jn. 6:37; Rom. 5:9).
C. There’s no condemnation for Christians (Rom. 8:1).
D. Christians are safe forever in the heavenly city of refuge (Heb. 7:25).

How do we apply this lesson?
1. Seek refuge with Jesus.
2. Be patient with others.
3. Live honestly in the sight of God and man.

Conclusion:
1. God makes provision for his own.
2. We should trust him and live.
