Starting out...

by David A. Paher on 09/12/10

I've wanted to start a blog for some time but haven't had the time or knowledge or discipline to commit to much writing. I trust that thoughts will flow freely and that ideas keep coming to my mind.

There's not much worry on my part as to who will read my blog posts. It's not really for others so much as it's for me. I want this to help my writing and my creation of clear thoughts. I want to have another reason to stay fresh, current and up to date. That's the only way to keep a blog interesting, for me and others. Then, if others find it interesting and want to keep reading, that's good, too.

I start this blog with trepidation and some anxiety not knowing if it will be good, if others will find it interesting, if I will find it interesting, yada yada. My biggest fear stems from knowing myself. Simply put, I'm a perfectionist. Anything I do must be well-planned and polished, especially when it comes to writing.

I suppose since communication is difficult and can be misunderstood, misconstrued, misinterpreted that I feel an extra burden for making sure all words and spelling, sentences and grammar, and paragraphs and main ideas are well-though out and perfect. To this end, I will write, edit and re-edit an article. Then I will sleep on it for a couple of days before editing and re-editing it again. I mean, it's a good practice because when I'm finished with the writing process, there's simply not much more to do. But that takes time, loads of time.

I hope that blogging will help me to let go of my perfectionalist ways and simply be myself. To be natural. That's what I want to do for that's when I'm at my best.

So here it goes. To beginning something new. To branching out into self. To starting out...
